Partnership readiness

What Taiwan bank sponsors usually ask before renewing a fintech partnership

· 5 min read

Modern office towers against a clear sky

Bank partners reviewing a Taiwan fintech firm rarely open with strategy slides. They ask who owns unsettled items older than a defined number of days, how complaint escalations are timed, and whether the compliance officer can produce the last three months of exception reports without a scramble.

In our audits for fintech clients preparing for sponsorship renewal, three themes appear again and again. First, settlement reconciliations that live only in a personal spreadsheet. Second, KYC refresh calendars that look complete until someone asks for the underlying case notes. Third, outsourcing arrangements where the contract promises monitoring the firm cannot demonstrate.

A useful readiness audit does not invent answers for you. It stresses the same points a bank relationship manager will stress, then ranks the gaps by how quickly they can be closed before the renewal meeting. Sometimes the right outcome is to delay the meeting by two weeks; arriving with a tidy pack and an unfinished remediation list is worse than asking for time.

If your firm is approaching renewal, gather the last sponsorship letter, the current complaint dashboard export, and the names of people who actually clear exceptions day to day. Those three items tell us more about readiness than any polished policy rewrite.
